POLARIS provides treatment within Specialized Mental Health Care.
This means we treat individuals with more complex or long-standing psychological difficulties that require specialized assessment and treatment.
Treatment takes place in an outpatient setting. Depending on the therapist and your preference, sessions can be held at the practice location or online via a secure video connection.
To qualify for reimbursement under the basic health insurance package, a valid referral letter from your general practitioner is required, specifically referring to Specialized Mental Health Care. In addition, there must be a DSM-5 diagnosis.
Complaints such as burnout, relationship problems, or adjustment difficulties without a DSM-5 classification are not reimbursed under the basic health insurance package. Treatment is still possible in these cases on a self-pay basis.
How are services billed?
Within Dutch mental health care, services are billed according to the Healthcare Performance Model (Zorgprestatiemodel). Each session is billed based on the professional discipline, type of consultation, and duration.
There are two types of consultations:
Assessment (Diagnostiek)
Intake and diagnostic sessions in which we jointly assess and map out the complaints.
Treatment (Behandeling)
Therapeutic sessions.
The listed fees relate to the session time. Time for preparation and reporting is included.
Reimbursement and contracts
POLARIS works with several psychologists. Contract agreements with health insurers may differ per practitioner. This means the level of reimbursement may depend on both your health insurance policy and the psychologist providing your treatment.
We will inform you about this prior to the start of treatment.
Some practitioners primarily work online via secure video connection. This does not affect reimbursement; the same maximum fees established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) apply.
For insured mental health care, the mandatory annual deductible of €385 (or higher, if chosen) applies.
Invoices must be paid to us in a timely manner.
Self-payment
It is possible to pay for treatment entirely yourself. In that case, no information is shared with your health insurer.
We apply the maximum rates established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority. These services are exempt from VAT.
